After getting into our tour bus and without wasting time, we began our first visit to the Elepant Hill , which is located at the southern end of Guilin town. At the tourist sites, everyone was seen busy posing for picture in front of the the elephant trunk hill and Li River. The shape of the hill really looked like a elephant trunk ! No kidding .
Guilin has a population of around 1.4mil and the town has prospered tremendously in recent years as more and more tourists had come to Guilin and Yangshuo for the Li River cruise to see this natural wonder of the world. Together with my wife's family members, we were glad that we had chosen this package tour to come here to admire the charming scenery of Guilin and Yangshuo. I can't be wrong as when President Clinton made his first official visit to China, his entourage was taken for a tour of this famous place. I am not a VVIP but I saw what Clinton had seen in Guilin !
As the day was getting dark, we were driven to a downtown hotel in Guilin for our check-in. We had a 8 course dinner ( a combination of soup, vegetable, chicken, fish, pork either boiled, steamed or stirred fry) and one of the favourite dish was the popular Guilin rice noodles, a local delicacy !
After the dinner , we had a stroll at the Central Square , the main shopping and eating district of Guilin. I took a picture of the Grand Li Jiang Waterfall Hotel ( 5 star rating ) with water gushing down from the top of the hotel ( this was performed from 8.00pm for a couple of minutes as a PR stunt for the hotel ! ) to the facade giving a spectacular night view from far. A star attraction for tourists who were happened to be there at the right time.

" Guilin lives up as a natural wonder of the world - described by locals as a heavenly place , best known for its scenic mountains and rivers "
